I don't have anything all that interesting right now to blog about, but felt like updating so I looked up to see if I had any interesting pictures exactly one year ago and found this. Wow, how life changes quickly with babies. On a side note, this is a favorite picture of mine. I don't know, there's just something about it. Beautiful girls on a sunny spring day.

P.S. In case you were curious about Abby's doctor's appointment yesterday (that I mentioned in the last post), we started her on a pediatric dose of Allegra for allergies. We'll see if it helps... (the good news is that she thought it tasted good- so now at least I won't have that battle every night at bedtime)

Inconvenient, to say the least

We seemed to be operating under a theme this weekend of inconvenience. And that is putting it lightly. The most dramatic...

You see the image of the fire hydrant spraying a fine stream of water at high speeds above? Yeah. Well, that is what happened at our house, except it was coming out of the wall. I finally pressured Matt into hard mounting the baby gate at the top of the stairs this weekend. What happened? Yup. Hit a main water line with a screw. Won.der.ful. We quickly got water to the whole house turned off and called the plumber. This, of course, happened Saturday evening at about 6:30. Just think of all the things you can't do without water: baths, flush the toilet, dishes, etc. Also, can you say "after hours costs?" They didn't get here until about 10:00 p.m. I think God worked a miracle in that the girls both slept through it all (sawing through drywall and everything).

Next inconvenience? Thursday night we awoke to a crying Lily covered in vomit. Awesome. It was in her ear and through her hair.... Nasty. I had to give her a bath in the middle of the night. Then, she popped a fever. Luckily, she only threw up once, but I freaked out about it for the next 36 hours. Of course my Mom was here for Grandparent's Day at Abby's preschool, so we couldn't get out and do anything fun because we had a sick Lily.

Next, Abby had/has another bout of her horrible dry cough that nothing helps. I called the doctor to make an appointment today to discuss the possibility of allergies and/or asthma. If she does have one or both, I think they are minor cases, but OTC stuff just isn't doing the trick. I was reading online and a lot of the symptoms fit for allergy induced asthma. We'll see what he says this afternoon at our appointment.

...my last inconvenience for the day? If it doesn't stop raining, I. am. going. to. scream. I am so tired of this back and forth stuff (which again, is what I think Abby's problem is)! I swear on a daily basis I switch back and forth between heat and air conditioning. We're lucky we're not all sick.

Yikes, I just reread my post and I sound like a Grumpy Gus. Sorry. I think I'm going to start a countdown to DisneyWorld. That will make me happy...

(another thing that makes me happy? Lily is pulling up!
Check out this fuzzy picture from my phone... she did that all by herself!)

I see colors!

I finally did it. Abby and I made a Rainbow Cake! Isn't it beautiful?

Tidbits

A little bit of randomness...

Yesterday was the first day of NO bottles for Miss Lily and it went great.  I'm hopeful for day 2.

It's been chilly in the mornings here and this morning I grabbed an old cardigan sweater before leaving the house.  I bought it in college and had forgotten how much I LOVE it.

Abby spent her $5 from the garage sale on a really cool magnifying glass.  It is green with a pink and yellow flowery handle.  She was sold on buying it as soon as she saw it.  Fun.

Abby still thinks Derek on Dancing with the Stars is "handsome", and I could watch him and Maks all day.

I am still excited about our DisneyWorld trip, but I keep thinking of things we "need" to buy for it.  I'm driving Matt nuts, still.

I ordered Lily the cutest pair of white sandles from See Kai Run (for vacation, of course).  Don't you think she needs these too?  I can feel Dave Ramsey cringing.

One of my many secret guilty pleasure TV shows is Tori and Dean, Home Sweet Hollywood.  Anyone else?  (no haters!)

My laid back baby keeps showing signs that she is closer and closer to pulling up and cruising.  In fact, she has pulled up several times, but only when she's in the mood.  I have been stressed out about her gross motor skills being delayed, so this makes me very happy.

I love my Mom's Group on Wednesday mornings.  We read great books, laugh together, cry together, and talk LOTS.

I am ready for my husband to be home from his business trip.  Less than a day now.  This "single" mom stuff is exhausting.

Wordless Wednesday

Busy Weekend

(prayer request is below the Race pictures)

We had a very busy weekend.

Starting on Friday, we joined up with a family at church that we are very close to for a garage sale. It was perfect. They didn't have little ones and we did, so we covered every possible garage sale type of item. We sold just about everything we put out there and made a good amount. I was giddy with how well we did. I have to admit it was weird to see people paw through my precious baby clothes, but we accomplished what we set out to do, AND, our friends did AMAZING and made a gob of money. What a success!

Saturday was by far our busiest day. We attempted the Komen Race for the Cure with the girls. We decided ahead of time that the 5K probably wasn't the best idea unless we wanted to carry Abby for 3 miles. Instead we did the 1 miles Family Walk, which was perfect. We walked with (different) friends from church, which made it even more fun.

After the race, I asked Abby what her favorite part was... she said she liked the food afterward the best. Kroger sponsors it and you get a snack bag with a banana, apple, granola bar, cheese and crackers, and a water bottle in it. She was all over it.

The fresh air and walking was just too much for our littlest "walkers."

It is hard to tell, but those are walkers stretched out far, far in front of us. The pure number of people who support this is amazing.

~This year, the walk has a little more meaning in it for us because we just found out about someone at church who is in her 30's with a little boy who was diagnosed with advanced cancer the day before the race. It started out as terrible back pain, and now she is starting the fight of her lifetime. The cancer is in her liver, hip bones, and she is having a biopsy done on her breast today, but isn't optimistic about those results. She is determined to fight this, but it seems as though the cancer is everywhere. Also, her son is about 5 (I think) and has some special needs, so he thrives on routine which most surely will be disrupted some. Please pray for Rachel, her family, and all of the doctors and nurses that are treating her. ~

Believe it or not, we had a commitment after the Race... Bowling with our Fusion church group. We had tons of fun hanging out. And, guess what???? I won on our lane! I beat Matt which I think I should rub in for a while.

Now, we are in the process of gearing up for another busy week. Matt has a business trip this week, Abby has Kindergarten testing, Grandparents Day at Preschool, and more... I seriously need to clean my bathrooms/house before my Mom gets here. Yuck. Need good cleaning music, any suggestions?

Rejoice!

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

-Philippians 4:4-9 (NRSV)

Messy

I have a few friends who lovingly (I think!) tease me about how I don't let my kids get dirty. Not completely true, but I usually time dirty times for right before a bath. Anyway, I took this a couple weeks ago after we had spaghetti and I am dedicating this picture to them...

Swinging

After crying the first couple times we put her in the swing, Lily FINALLY loves swinging on the swingset outside. Today she actually threw a bit of a temper tantrum when Abby went outside to play and she was left inside.

Abby's new saying while she is swinging is "Low and Slow, Mommy", which means 'Push me'. It makes us laugh.

My latest project

I've been working on a little project this weekend. I wanted to try to make Abby a cute summer dress using some of the summer prints that I bought a while back. I tweaked the pattern that I bought yesterday some and here is the result!

I also tried the Fabric Flowers that are listed under my "Ideas" page finally. They are easy and turned out pretty cute. I can see how they might become addictive to make. I have already made three.

The best part? Abby loves it and can't wait to wear it to preschool tomorrow. Score!

(this one is a little too model-y for me, but she was being a dork so I didn't have much to choose from)

Wagon Ride

We've been trying to enjoy the recent warmer weather.
(and look at some of my plants starting to bud and bloom!)

Just proof that I can't get both girls to look and smile at the same time.

This Morning

Matt surprised us with a trip to our local bakery for some awesome doughnuts. Lily had her first doughnut, I think she liked it. Yummmmmm!

(Can you say "bedhead"???)
