Glitz and Glam Gymnastics Meet

Abby had another gymnastics meet this weekend.  This one we had to drive a bit to get to.  It was about 2 hours away.  Luckily, we didn't have the early morning session like some of the girls.  She didn't have to be there until 11:15, so we didn't have to get up super early, the flip side of that is that she didn't get to complete with some of her friends.  They split up her level (ages 7 and up were at the second session) due to space at this particular gym.

She did great, as usual.  The only slip up she had was on uneven bars.  For some reason, her hands slipped on them and she fell off (if that makes sense, because she didn't really "fall.").  So, consequently, that brought down her all-around score quite a bit.  Other than that, she did awesome.  She continues to improve on floor routine and is steady on balance beam.  We are so proud.

At this particular gym, you were able to sit very close to the gymnasts, so I used it as an opportunity to video some of the routines.  Enjoy!

Four

Lily is four.

That's crazy.  How did that happen?!

I have learned finally, that it is so much easier to have birthday parties out somewhere than at your house.  So much less cleaning and pressure.  The hardest part is deciding where.  This time around, we decided, after several ideas, to rent the gymnastics gym.  It was a very fun time with family and friends.  We had a Tinkerbell/Peter Pan theme.

We started with these cute invitations that I found on Etsy.  Too cute.  I then asked the gym to have some games with a fairy/pirate twist- which they did.  They played versions of hide and seek and tag and all kinds of other things, along with lots of free time on the gym equipment.

... and then the food.  All of my ideas are straight from Pinterest.  (Can I get a "God Bless Pinterest?")
The labels for the food are from Etsy also.

Mr. Smee's Sea Dip (ranch dip dyed blue with goldfish crackers)

Strawberries from Neverland and Fairy Cookie Wands

Pirate Pretzel Swords and Gold Doubloons (Nilla Wafers)

Pixie Dust as party favors (you know, to use in case of emergencies)
(I bought the bottles from Hobby Lobby and hot glued them shut)

-and then on her "real" birthday we celebrated with a cupcake from our favorite cupcake bakery.  YUM.
