Our Disney Cruise Day 4

Day 4:  St. Maarten

This was our first port day.  Neither us, nor our friends, formally scheduled an excursion for St. Maarten.  We had decided that we did want to check out Maho Beach.  It is famous for being located right next to an airport.  The airplanes come in right over it, like, really close.

After a casual breakfast, we got off the ship and located a taxi that could handle all 8 of us, and headed to Maho Beach.  It took 20-30 minutes.

Oh, but I almost forgot!  It was also Abby's 9th birthday!!!!  So, she got a song at breakfast, and a napkin bow!

...and then we headed to Maho Beach.

The boat in port.  Everytime we docked, the crew immediately started working.  Whether it was painting, or cleaning, something was always being done when the boat was still.

There were some things that the girls didn't love about St. Maarten (we parents weren't the best prepared parents ever for the short visit to the beach, towels, for example), but I will say that giving them this experience of travel is something I will not regret.  The luxury of this type of vacation is not lost on me, but they also saw some non-luxurious things as we drove around St. Maarten, which is good for them, too.

We learned the best times at the pool and the famous Aqua Duck are when others are off the ship.  MUCH shorter lines!  They rode it many times in a row.  (Me too- I rode it also!)

I think this particular picture is Lily and Matt on the Aqua Duck...

This was also the day that we saw Maleficent as our special show on the ship.  Excellent movie, by the way.  Loved it.  -and not to scary for Lily.  Abby bought a Maleficient/Mickey ear headband with birthday money.  It's super cute.

Abby's "Mickey Ears" at dinner, and a song for her birthday.

The famous Pirate Party (plus fireworks that night also)

Our favorite of the Towel Animals!
