We've made it though the first week of wake-ups for school. Not an easy feat. For those of you who don't know, Abby's school has made quite a schedule change this year and she has to get up a full hour earlier than she did last year. This means my alarm goes off at 5:45 a.m. Yikes. I'm not sure we're ever going to get used to it. For the first time, I think, she is super excited about sleeping in on Saturday.
We had quite an improvement on the bus yesterday. It was only 20-25 minutes late versus an hour the first day. I'm hoping for another improvement today. She is loving school and that is what is important. We've had a lot of drama about taxes and referendums and busing, but the good thing is that we aren't doubting anything that is actually happening inside the school doors. I think we are very lucky to have the school that we do.

So. Last night we decided to introduce Abby to Scrabble. I saw something on TV about how it is a great game to sneak in some learning. I thought she is getting to where she would be able to put together some easy words for it. -and then add up the numbers to put together a score! We didn't mess with triple letter scores and such or even write down scores, but just introduced it. It was fun.
I should say, that for those of you who know Matt, this was an interesting experience for him. He is SUPER competitive and Scrabble is one of his games (or Words with Friends). He prides himself on his strategy and such. Playing with his six year old was a new challenge. His first word was, and I kid you not, "PLUMED". Seriously? He was also Lily's parter, so she kept randomly putting letters on the board, it was hard not to giggle watching him squirm. He got more into the level Abby and I were playing as we played more. You'll see on the last picture some of our words, with some random letters thrown in that make no sense (thank you, Lily). Abby was very proud of her word, DUCK. On the second picture, Lily swore that she was making the word CAR.
We had a good time.
