Ten on Ten

I've been on a bit of a blogging vacation lately, but I'm back with Ten on Ten, to get you a little caught on what's been going on around here. Believe it or not, Abby is the one who kept reminding me to take 10 pictures! I didn't actually succeed in getting ten, so I'm throwing in a couple old ones to share some other stuff. I know you'll understand and it helps give you a late Christmas update. :)

The girls got a cool cardboard house that you color. They have spent hours playing in it.

The family got Just Dance 3 for Christmas. It has taken a lot to get Lily to even attempt a dance, but we're getting there. :)

Getting ready in the morning. My products that I use every single day. The Aquage Transforming Paste is the only thing that keeps the curl/wave in my hair. I love that stuff. My stylist recently gave me a sample for something similar that I liked but I don't know... I go cheap on hairspray and I like the moisturizer because it feels light. I am hoping that my daily use will keep wrinkles away as long as possible. :)

Lily and I played Minnie's Bow-tique. She got it for Christmas from Grandma and Papaw, and hasn't played with it much since Christmas so she had lots of fun.

If you follow me on Pinterest, you may have noticed that I've been pinning a ton of Very Hungry Caterpillar stuff lately. Well, that is because we've decided to use that as Lily's birthday "theme". I bought this fabric to do something with... a bunting and I'm not sure what else.

Our new book for my Mom's group. I'm really looking forward to it. I've heard lots of good things about and I think it is going to be really good.

Major dancing to Hannah Montana after homework was done, before dinner time. My girls know how to shake it. I know that someday that will come back to haunt me.

Cuties with our dinner. Aren't they the best?

This was one of my favorite Christmas gifts: Flynn Rider from Tangled. I've been "begging" for him for months. He sits on the kitchen counter and smolders at me. If you've seen the movie, you'll totally get that. You should have seen the girls giggling when I opened it. It was worth that.

Ten on Ten

What is Ten on Ten?

Take a photo every hour for ten consecutive hours on the tenth of each month. Document a day of your life and find beauty among the ordinary moments!

We started out with Pineapple Pancakes (a favorite of ours) and Bacon. I'm the only family member that doesn't like bacon- I know, I know, I'm crazy, right?

We tried this little creation- didn't turn out yummy, according to Abby and Matt.
Not sure why.

I got a little break inside while the girls and Matt weeded. The girls think this is fun, how long will that last?

I spent some time mulling over this offer- time on the phone hearing about the Disney Vacation Club in order to earn a $25 Disney Gift Card- just in time for our Disney vacation next month- worth it? Can't decide. That's a free souvenir!

Gymboree Castanets- or as they call them Bubble Poppers. I bought them this week for the girls for $2/piece. Am I insane?

Date night! I wore my flower flip flops. Cute!

Jaimie's here to babysit- the girls wasted no time making her read Barbie stories. Poor Jaimie.

We started with dinner at a create-your-own stir fry place. Every time I wonder if the fire is really necessary?

Not too shabby.

Then we saw The Help. (I swear the people behind me sighed as I tried to subtly take this picture. Oh well.) So, The Help was awesome. I've read the book and I thought the movie was true to the book. Matt really liked the movie too. We highly recommend it. We've been lucky, the last two movies we've seen have been really good.

Until next month!

This was such an interesting day for Ten on Ten to land, because it was Abby's first day of school. Because it was such a photo-worthy day, there are a few *bonus* pictures, so more than ten. :) Today she is officially a first grader. I miss her very much already, and so does Lily. About 15 minutes after she left, Lily asked, "Where is Abby?" It is going to be an adjustment. That all said, here is my Ten on Ten for August...

Abby and I each drew a very small red heart on each other's hands like the book The Kissing Hand, to remember each other all day. This is mine that she drew.

Lily hugging bis sis.

Abby was literally "bouncing" at the bus stop. This was the only non-blurry picture I got.

Getting on the bus.

Okay, back to the real world. I am so excited about this. Simple pleasures right? I bought new clippy skirt hangers yesterday so I don't have to fold them over regular hangers. No biggie, right. Should have done it forever ago. Terrible that I didn't. Whatever, now I have them. Awesome. Even more awesome? The cheapest style was one of my favorite options. :)

Lily, helping me choose what color nail polish I should use for my toes.

Heading up the stairs for nap.

When you wake up, Abby will be home!

Waiting for an eternity for the bus... for part of that time we looked at clouds. Her bus was an hour late. Sigh. It WILL get better.

Hallelujah!

Me: How was your day, FIRST GRADER????
Abby: It was AWESOME!

A very tired girl. She had her well-child appointment at 6:15. On our way home she said she was so tired she couldn't keep her eyes open. She went to bed at 7:30. We kept Lily up to about 8:00, and I went to bed at 8:30. -and I'm not sure we were ready to get up this morning.

Ten on Ten

Hello July! I'm a day late, but you can thank my friend Kathy for reminding me, -and then reminding me again. Geesh, some people. :) I skipped June completely, and can you believe that I actually had it on my calendar in June and I still forgot to do it?!

If you look closely, you will see water droplets clinging to my freshly watered plant. We had heat indexes in the 100's today, so my plants got lots of water today.

We straightened up the chairs on the porch. The girls are sitting in their favorite of the chairs. Lily loves the blue one and Abby the red.

Our lunch, I'm winning Supermom awards here, I'm sure. One of the girls' favorites though: Mac and Cheese and then mix in a can of drained tuna. Yum.

Finding "silly" things in the Highlights "High Five" magazine. This was the first time Lily really participated. She giggled about the Mommy vacuuming the grass and the snowman in the yard (she found the snowman all by herself).

No, I'm not just showing you that I did some laundry. I'm showing you that my laundry consists of big girl underwear for a certain 2 year old in our house. We aren't all the way there, but we are making good progress!

Another page from the "High Five" magazine...

... that we are doing:
(We didn't do the chalk part yet, but the stencils are ready. It was just too hot out today.)

Dinner! Doesn't it look yummy? I caved and ordered pizza. Bad Carrie. But it was so good. The girls and I polished off the whole thing (Abby ate as much as me!). So bad.

We watched this little gem while we ate. Love it. (and so many good one-liners)
"You will not cry or sneeze or barf or fart. No annoying sounds."
"It's so fluffy!!!"
"I have pins and needles that I'm sitting on."
"Lightbulb!"

A true sign of summer at our house. Flip flops EVERYWHERE. As far as I'm concerned, I can not own enough flip flops or tank tops. Do not argue with me on this one, you will not win. :)

Hello May! So, I cheated a little. I didn't stick to an every hour thing- or even close, as you will see. Some of my pictures are close together time-wise, but I liked the images too much to not choose them. Enjoy!

While I ate my breakfast, Lily kept winding up this teddy bear that plays Jesus Loves Me and listening to it.

Gymboree with Ms. Wendy, today's theme was delivering the mail. It was a really fun week.

Lily is "delivering a letter" by putting it through the slot.

Bubbles on the parachute. So pretty.

Walking with Abby home from the bus stop.

Matt came to practice his part for the recital with Abby. They are doing "Forever Your Girl". The Dads have a small part.

The girls singing with me while I make dinner. We are jamming to Bruno Mars "Marry You". (LOVE that song) You can't tell, but they each have a mixing spoon that they are holding to dance with also.

Lily's coloring stuff STILL out from earlier. Will it EVER get put away?

Shoes all lined up at the end of the day.

The end.
