Yummy Cupcakes

We celebrated Lily's third birthday this last weekend and Matt and I decided to splurge and try out a local cupcake bakery that is supposed to be fabulous. It was more expensive than baking them myself, obviously, but it was wonderful!

As you would expect, the shop was adorable. We picked up a dozen of their "Happy Birthday to Me" cupcakes, which are classic birthday cupcakes with buttercream icing, but then I also bought one special one to try. We tried the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough cupcake. Yummo. I think I'm hooked.

Once Upon a Time

I have a new show I have been watching, so I thought I'd share. It's not completely new, but it is still in it's first season. I didn't watch it at first, but I did have some friends that kept bringing up that it was good and they thought I'd like it. Finally, about a week ago, Matt was out of town, and there was nothing to watch on TV, the girls were in bed, so I pulled the pilot up on the ABC app on my iPad.

So, now I'm hooked. I have now caught up on all the episodes, so now I can just DVR it. It is interesting, but you just have to go for it. It sounds kind of ridiculous when you explain it, but it's fun. So, it's about a fairy tale world that gets an evil curse put on it and they get put into the "real world" where no one remembers their past. The only way to break the curse lives in the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming when she turns 28, which by the way, the pilot takes place on the main character's (in the red coat below) 28th birthday. Hmmmm. The show flashes back and forth between before and after the curse.

If you interested, check it out....

Monday Update

Good morning everyone! I think my exclamation point sounds more cheerful than I feel. I have the winter blahs. Actually, I should rephrase. My whole family has the winter blahs. Last night, Matt made the mistake of commenting that summer was so much easier as he was hanging up coats, which got everyone going on all the things that are better about summer. We went on for quite a while. :) We are certainly over the cold.

However, I did put together what I consider something wintery this morning... a (new) crockpot meal. I have high hopes that it will be delicious. It's not complicated at all. I saw the recipe (if you can call it that) on another blog, who referenced another blog, who got the original recipe here. It's basically chicken and potatoes, and I threw in carrots, with Italian salad dressing, Italian spices, and Parmesan cheese. Yum.

Abby and her new hat. Most of you have seen this picture on Facebook. She is still loving her it and wears it to school everyday.

Lily licking the beater from when we made cookies on "Girls Day".

This weekend we surprised the girls with tickets to the Disney on Ice show Dare to Dream with the Disney princesses. It was fabulous and they loved it. This is a (crummy) picture of Rapunzel swinging on her hair.

We are in full birthday prep mode for Lily's third birthday. I can't believe one week from today she will be 3! The party supplies have arrived. I also made a cute bunting (below). She loves it. It will be fun to get it hung, but I'm waiting until closer to the day.

Have you decorated for Valentine's Day yet? I tried to sneak in a few decorations this week. I replaced my bamboo balls with glittery hearts. You can always use a little sparkle, right? They add some fun color.

Artwork Goal

Do you have lots of artwork hanging in your house?

You know, artwork that you love?

It doesn't have to be expensive. Just stuff you like.

I have a new goal for the new year. I keep finding all these cool artists and prints online that I want to buy. Most of them are through Etsy. They make prints of their original artwork and then you can buy it cheaply. I'm a sucker for color. The problem is with the open floor plan of our house, we honestly don't have a ton of wall space available. Nonetheless, I would like to buy a few prints and frame them. Here are some of my favorites (though some of these shops/artists- I would take any of their stuff):

Ten on Ten

I've been on a bit of a blogging vacation lately, but I'm back with Ten on Ten, to get you a little caught on what's been going on around here. Believe it or not, Abby is the one who kept reminding me to take 10 pictures! I didn't actually succeed in getting ten, so I'm throwing in a couple old ones to share some other stuff. I know you'll understand and it helps give you a late Christmas update. :)

The girls got a cool cardboard house that you color. They have spent hours playing in it.

The family got Just Dance 3 for Christmas. It has taken a lot to get Lily to even attempt a dance, but we're getting there. :)

Getting ready in the morning. My products that I use every single day. The Aquage Transforming Paste is the only thing that keeps the curl/wave in my hair. I love that stuff. My stylist recently gave me a sample for something similar that I liked but I don't know... I go cheap on hairspray and I like the moisturizer because it feels light. I am hoping that my daily use will keep wrinkles away as long as possible. :)

Lily and I played Minnie's Bow-tique. She got it for Christmas from Grandma and Papaw, and hasn't played with it much since Christmas so she had lots of fun.

If you follow me on Pinterest, you may have noticed that I've been pinning a ton of Very Hungry Caterpillar stuff lately. Well, that is because we've decided to use that as Lily's birthday "theme". I bought this fabric to do something with... a bunting and I'm not sure what else.

Our new book for my Mom's group. I'm really looking forward to it. I've heard lots of good things about and I think it is going to be really good.

Major dancing to Hannah Montana after homework was done, before dinner time. My girls know how to shake it. I know that someday that will come back to haunt me.

Cuties with our dinner. Aren't they the best?

This was one of my favorite Christmas gifts: Flynn Rider from Tangled. I've been "begging" for him for months. He sits on the kitchen counter and smolders at me. If you've seen the movie, you'll totally get that. You should have seen the girls giggling when I opened it. It was worth that.
